Dry Needling

Dry Needling as a treatment

We take pride in ensuring all treatments are evidence based, and whilst you may not have experienced or heard of your Physiotherapist utilising Dry Needling as a technique, it has become one of the most effective and widely used techniques in the past 20 years.

So what is Dry Needling?

Dry Needling uses Acupuncture needles to stimulate myofascia tissue (the dense tissue covering and surrounding muscles and bones) and treat pain, reduce muscle tension and facilitates muscle rehabilitation. Our practitioners are experienced in this area and find it is an extremely effective treatment for many clients including those suffering chronic neck pain, radicular arm pain, acute and chronic lower back pain and sporting injuries.

How is it different to Chinese Medicine Acupuncture?

While Dry Needling utilises trigger points and acupuncture needles like Chinese Medicine does, it is instead applied to ‘western’ evidence-based reasoning with particular consideration to neurophysiology and anatomy knowledge. Diagnosis and treatment is conducted with Medical and Physiotherapy foundations and based on current therapeutic research.
