Researchers have linked more than 30 DNA variants to the onset of migraines, a discovery that could improve the treatment for one of the most debilitating and common disorders worldwide.
Migraines are one of the most debilitating disorders we assist in treating here at Strathfield Physiotherapy Centre. A recent article in The Sydney Morning Herald highlighted a study seen in Nature Genetics that looked at Migraines and links to 30 DNA variants to the onset of migraines.
The majority of DNA variants discovered were also linked to poor blood vessel function that indicated vascular dysfunction was the primary mechanism underlying the migraine.
As practitioners, we look at things holistically. We consider a patient’s family history (like this DNA link) and lifestyle and treat accordingly. We can eliminate and ease your migraines with manual therapy of the vascular region. For many though, the cause of their migraine may actually relate to common disorder of the brain stem. Here we treat with careful mobilsation of the first three cervical vertebrae. For more information, click through to our Migraine treatments or call us today to book an appointment.
